The Municipality of Ilida includes the city of Amaliada and 19 ex-communities according to the law 2539/1997 “Ioannis Kapodistrias plan”.
It is the first municipality of the Prefecture of Ilia in extent (256,988 acres) and the second in population (32,090 inhabitants), according to the 2001 census.
Compared to the population, the city of Amaliada occupies the 4th place in region ofWestern Greece after Patra, Agrinio and Pyrgo.
According to the 2001 census, the city of Amaliada recorded one of the biggest population increases, between the municipalities of the country and ranked between the 40 largest municipalities, who are not county capitals.
Amaliada is the capital of the Municipality, a modern city built in the middle of the fertile plain of Ilia. The western limits of the municipality are the shores of the Ionian Sea and east the lush hills, where concludes the massif of the central Peloponnese.
In Amaliada one arrives by road or rail ( and in the future by air). From the city begin and end multiple paths , since its location it the crossroads between Central and Western , North and South Peloponnese .
Road distances: 294km from Athens , 81km from Patras , 20 km from the Pyrgo, 42km from Ancient Olympia , 140km from Kalamata,170km from Tripoli and 31km from the port of Kyllini ,where you can travel to Zakynthos and Kefalonia islands daily.
All the roads begin and end in the Amaliada. Nearby trails connect Amaliada with the mountains of the Peloponnese and the beautiful Ionian coast. In the city we enjoy the peak of Erymantho, the Portovouni of Achaia, the tumors of Zakynthos and Kefalonia islands. In the wooded hills that surround it, monumental places are offered for excursions, and there are opportunities for sightseeing to the archaeological monuments. Very near to the city of Amaliada in the the municipal community of Kentro, there is the dam of Pineios, with the namesake lake, which offered for canoe and kayak all the seasons of the year.

In municipal community of Dafni the visitors can find, a second Mycenaean cemetery and the Byzantine church of the 12th century, Saint Vlassis.
